run

It is 4:40.  My alarm is going off.

What do I have to get done.  Why do I have to get up.

Oh. Wait.  Rob is home.  (Picture me noticing my sleeping husband as if he had not been there all night.)

I am going running.

I only slept 6 hours, but I get to run.

I get to be me before anyone needs anything from me.

I make my coffee and I drink the entire cup while it is still hot, no one needs anything, no one is talking.

My house is silent and I head out into the cool, dark morning.
.

I love it, the morning air is still crisp.

I meet friends and we run.  A quick five miles.  It feels good.

I spend the rest of the day feeling content and happy.

I miss this.  I need this.

Enjoy the run,

elena

  1. I can't wait till I'm back up to "a quick 5 miles"!!! When I got pregnant I was doing 8 and now I can't even do ONE!

This post reminds me of that commercial they make in the movie "What Women Want" :)

  4. Oh my goodness, this post makes me want to go for a run SO BADLY! And if I got up at that hour, I could....hubby is still home and all, but I just haven't made myself do it yet. Can't have my cake and eat it too, I guess! Great post :)

  7. I tried to jog for my exercise regime when I was trying to sort it out and I have to agree there's nothing quite like jogging when its dark and there's nobody around and the air is crisp <3

  8. I admire you for getting up so early and running. I can't wait to get back to the days were 5 miles is easy--it's crazy how fast someone can get "out of running shape" once they stop for awhile. New follower by the way :)

  10. That's an awesome post and I totally envy your gumption! I'm definitely not one who can just get up and get going. For me it would be more like: "Ugh... you have to go run, flabby. Go. Are you up yet? Nope. GO!"

I'm new to your blog! I found you through FTLOB and I can't wait to read more! Feel free to go and check out my blog as well. :)

  11. My most enjoyable times are in the morning before anyone gets up. I love it. I envy your ambition to run. I've never had that desire and wish I did because running or any exercise is a chore. oh well...

  12. Sooo awesome that you got your "me" time. I looove, love, luv it when the house is quiet and no one is messing up what I just cleaned up and no one needs me to take them anywhere...and no one needs any money. Now I just need to start running.
